Sketches of Japan – A Travel Memoir, part 1

by Jason on January 16, 2013

In this sketches series of three, I will showcase the drawings of my travels in Japan. My time in Japan this winter has been an enthralling and amazing experience, and I wanted to capture it in more ways than just photographs. The sketches are both of major landmarks as well as small alleys and moments of life in Japan.

Shibuya Crossing. A person ended up speaking to me about my drawings and wanted to take a picture of me posing with it.

Shinto shrine adjoining Senso-ji

Meiji-jinga around New Years

Akihabara, the center of manga and electronics.

Street festival off Harajuku for New Years.

Random alley with yakitori restaurants and bars next to Shinjuku station.

Here is Part 2 and Part 3.

I’ve seen this both in the States and in Japan. The sketches are truly inspiring and I definitely took some notes on it!
